The Original Workshop is looking for a dependable, motivated, and hands-on Woodworking Assistant to join our team during busy project periods. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with wood, likes building things, and wants to develop practical skills in a real workshop environment.

We are open to hiring someone with some hands-on experience, but we are also willing to train the right person. If you are reliable, eager to learn, take direction well, and have a strong work ethic, this role could be a great fit.

This position begins as a contract role, with work most often needed during larger custom projects. Project lengths can range from 1–3 weeks for smaller jobs to 30–90 days for larger ones. There may be some downtime between projects during slower periods, but our goal is to keep work available whenever possible. This role may grow into a more consistent or full-time opportunity as the business continues to expand.

Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with the possibility of extra hours during especially busy periods.

Responsibilities

- Assist with the building and assembly of custom woodworking projects
- Prepare materials by measuring, cutting, sanding, and helping with finishing work
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workshop
- Support quality control by checking work for accuracy and finish standards
- Assist with material handling, shop setup, and general project support
- Help track materials and supplies as needed
- Work closely with the team to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards
- Follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines at all times
- Arrive on time, ready to work, and willing to take direction

Qualifications

- Interest in woodworking, carpentry, shop work, or hands-on skilled work




- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and pride in doing quality work
- Good time management and dependable attendance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must provide own eye protection, proper footwear, and gloves when needed
- Must be able to speak and understand English fluently

Experience Experience in woodworking, carpentry, construction, manufacturing, or other hands-on work is an asset, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Experience reading drawings, measurements, or shop plans is helpful, but not mandatory.

Work Eligibility

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada at the time of hire.

We do not provide visa sponsorship.

Must have a valid drivers license , and the ability to get to and from work without issues or delays.
