Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team at Màzìní Nàkàdìtòshì house, located on the Tsuut'ina Nation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for direct care and supervision to youth residents, ensuring their safety, well-being, and overall development. This position involves implementing daily routines, supporting emotional and behavioral developments, and facilitating activities.

This position follows a rotating schedule of either days or nights set schedule:

- Weekday Day Shift: 3:00 PM–12:00 AM
- Weekday Overnight Shift: 12:00 AM–9:00 AM
- Weekend Day Shift: 9:00 AM–9:00 PM
- Weekend Overnight Shift: 9:00 PM–9:00 AM

The schedule rotates weekly:
- Week 1: 4 shifts
- Week 2: 3 shifts
- Employees are expected to work every other weekend as part of the rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

- Supervise and provide direct care for youth residents, ensuring a safe and supportive workplace.
- Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and housekeeping.
- Lead and facilitate structured programs and recreational activities.
- Monitor and document residents' progress, behaviors, and needs.
- Provide emotional support, guidance, conflict resolution and crisis intervention as necessary.




- Collaborate with team members and external service providers to develop individualized care plans.

Requirements

- Experience working with indigenous youth is preferred.
- 1-2 years experience working with children or young adults in an group home, educational or recreational setting.
- Knowledge of child and youth development, trauma-informed care, and behavioral management techniques.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive environment that respects diversity among youth.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues, residents, and external partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

- Clear vulnerable sector check and child intervention record check (dated within the last year)
- Valid driver's license and a vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability insurance.
- A clean driver's abstract containing no more than two minor offences or 1 major offence.
