Looking for stable full-time employment Short Grass Ranches is a 70 year old family owned and operated business. We are looking for someone to join our team in the challenging agricultural industry. We are a diverse operation consisting of a 7000 HD backgrounding feedlot, 1200 HD cow calf operation, irrigated and dry land farming. (This is a full time position) Main aspects of the job include the following -Day to day cattle/livestock operations: -Operating feed-wagon -Preparation of feeds (chopping hay, rolling grain) -Equipment maintenance -(Feedlot is empty 3 to 4 months over the summer) -processing/sorting of feedlot cattle -fencing -assisting with calving duties and movement of cow/calf pairs through the summer -Heavy equipment operation: -Farming equipment -Haying equipment -Tractors, Front end loaders -Applicants must have: -Valid driver’s license is required (drivers abstract will be needed)



-experience and knowledge of livestock care and low stress cattle handling is an asset -Must be able to work well independently and as a team -Willingness to learn -Valuable communication skills -Mechanical skills We have many long-term employees and are looking for someone to fill an important role on our team. Your jobs/role in the operation will change throughout the year/seasons. Depending on your skills and interests roles can become more focused in an area. Short Grass Ranches is located 8 miles N.E of the city of Medicine Hat. A work rotation schedule among staff allows for weekends off during the winter feeding period(feedlot is empty in the summer)We offer a benefits package and competitive wages will be based on experience.
