CanAlt Health Labs is a growing specialty laboratory group providing clinical, lipid, protein chemistry, and analytical testing services. We are seeking a hands-on
Scientist
to help develop, validate, scale, and commercialize new laboratory tests across CanAlt and SideChain Analytics. This is primarily a laboratory-based role, with approximately
75% of time focused on bench science, validation, production testing, and workflow optimization , and the balance supporting scientific reporting, clients, and commercialization. Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize LC-MS/MS methods for proteins, small molecules, and related analytes Design high-throughput, plate-based and automation-ready workflows Validate analytical methods for accuracy, precision, linearity, specificity, robustness, stability, and LOD/LOQ Transition validated methods into routine commercial production Develop SOPs, QC schemes, batch structures, and reporting criteria Troubleshoot instrumentation and improve throughput, turnaround time, and cost per sample Coordinate laboratory workflow and support training of technical staff Support GC-MS, GC-FID, HPLC, ELISA, and related analytical platforms Evaluate new tests and panels for technical and commercial feasibility Provide scientific support to practitioners, researchers, and commercial clients Contribute to laboratory reports, technical content,
LIMS workflows, and quality systems Qualifications
PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field; or MSc with commercial laboratory experience 2–5 years of hands‑on mass spectrometry experience Experience with GC-MS and other analytical platforms Demonstrated experience taking methods from development through validation into routine use Experience with high‑throughput laboratory workflows Strong technical troubleshooting and communication skills Commercial mindset with an understanding of scalability, throughput, cost, and client needs Legally entitled to work in Canada Strong Assets
Protein or biologic analysis Laboratory automation and plate-based sample preparation ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, or CLIA-style quality systems Supervisory or technical leadership experience Clinical or reference laboratory experience LIMS, laboratory reporting, and workflow automation Practitioner-facing or direct-to-consumer laboratory testing What We Offer
