Join the Women’s Rural Resource Centre as an Indigenous Counsellor and Outreach Support. This part time role focuses on trauma-informed counselling and advocacy for Indigenous women and families within Strathroy, Ontario.
As a part of the Direct Care Team, you will provide culturally safe, participant-centered counselling and outreach services. Your role involves collaboration with various community partners to support wellness, safety, and self-determination, utilizing both Indigenous and Western healing practices. This contract position presents an opportunity to effect meaningful change in the local Indigenous community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer one-on-one trauma-informed counselling and safety planning
• Navigate healthcare and legal service systems for participants
• Facilitate wellness programs and support groups
• Build relationships with local Indigenous organizations
• Participate in the on-call support team as needed
Requirements:
• Minimum two years in counselling or outreach services
• Understanding of trauma-informed practices and Indigenous cultures
• Experience with housing and community resources preferred
• Relevant education in social or Indigenous studies is an asset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
