We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to lead procurement and supply chain activities, drive supplier performance, and support the organization’s operational objectives. The successful candidate will bring strong people leadership, analytical capabilities, and a deep understanding of supply chain best practices, ideally within a defense, marine, or other complex industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a procurement and supply chain team, providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
Develop and implement procurement and supply chain strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Manage supplier relationships, performance, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
Analyze supply chain data, trends, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and risk reduction.
Monitor global supply chain conditions and assess downstream impacts on procurement, production, repair, and operational activities.
Ensure procurement and supply chain processes follow established best practices, policies, and procedures.
Utilize ERP systems to manage and optimize procurement, supply chain, repair, and overhaul activities.
Develop and maintain supply chain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting using tools such as Excel and Power BI.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, quality, finance, and other functions to resolve supply chain challenges.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier, material, logistics, and availability risks.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain operations.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum
5 years of experience
in procurement or supply chain management.
Experience in the
defense, marine, aerospace, manufacturing, or other complex industrial sectors
is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Robust knowledge of
supply chain management principles, procurement practices, and industry best practices .
Experience working with
global supply chains
and understanding the potential downstream impacts of supply disruptions.
In-depth experience with
ERP systems , particularly modules supporting supply chain management, repair, and overhaul operations.
Advanced data analysis and reporting skills, including
Microsoft Excel ; experience with
Power BI or other business intelligence tools
is highly desirable.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional designation or certification in procurement or supply chain management.
Experience in
repair, overhaul, refit, or maintenance environments .
Experience managing complex or highly regulated supply chains.
Knowledge of defense-related procurement requirements and regulations.
