Why We're Hiring

BTI is supporting a major portfolio of control system migration projects involving the replacement of legacy Modicon PLC platforms with Schneider Electric M580 systems across operating pipeline and terminal facilities.

To support this work, we are seeking experienced controls professionals who can contribute to system design, PLC programming, industrial networking, testing, commissioning, and technical leadership. We are looking for a mix of hands-on contributors and technical leaders who enjoy solving real-world operational challenges.

Work Location & Eligibility

Location: Calgary, Alberta

This position is based in Calgary and requires regular collaboration with our project teams and clients. Successful candidates are expected to work from our Calgary office and travel to client facilities throughout Western Canada as required.

While occasional flexibility may be available, this is not a fully remote position.

Applicants must be currently residing in Canada and legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. BTI does not provide work permit sponsorship, LMIA support, immigration assistance, or international relocation assistance for this position.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in industrial facilities, brownfield projects, commissioning, and operational support environments.

What You'll Do

Depending on your experience and area of expertise, responsibilities may include:

Control System Design





- Develop control system architectures and migration strategies.
- Design PLC panels, marshalling cabinets, remote I/O systems, and field interfaces.
- Prepare electrical and control system drawings including wiring diagrams, panel layouts, network architecture drawings, and installation packages.
- Develop I/O assignments, PLC hardware layouts, and communication system designs.
- Support procurement, vendor coordination, and construction activities.
- Participate in site walkdowns and brownfield assessments.

Control System Programming & Integration
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC applications.
- Migrate legacy Modicon control systems to Schneider Electric M580 platforms.
- Configure and support industrial communication networks and protocols.
- Support HMI, SCADA, and third-party system integration.
- Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, and operational readiness activities.

Commissioning & Startup
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT).
- Troubleshoot control system, communication, and field instrumentation issues.
- Execute commissioning and startup activities at operating facilities.
- Work directly with operations and maintenance personnel during cutovers and migrations.

Technical Leadership
- Lead control system design activities and technical reviews.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
- Develop work plans, estimates, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Interface directly with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor intermediate and junior team members.

We're Interested in People With Experience In
- Schneider Electric Modicon and M580 PLC platforms.
- Unity Pro and/or EcoStruxure Control Expert.
- Pipeline, terminal, oil & gas, industrial, or utility facilities.
- Industrial Ethernet and control system networking.
- Control panel and electrical system design.
- PLC migrations,



upgrades, and modernization projects.
- HMI and SCADA systems.
- Brownfield project execution.
- Commissioning and startup support.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will typically possess a combination of the following:

- Experience in industrial control systems design, implementation, programming, or commissioning.
- Robust understanding of PLC-based control systems and industrial communications.
- Ability to develop and interpret electrical and control system documentation.
- Experience troubleshooting control systems in operating facilities.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Willingness to travel to client sites within Western Canada as required.

- Electrical Design and Drafting
- Equivalent industry experience

Additional Assets

- Schneider Electric certification or extensive Schneider platform experience.
- Previous Modicon-to-M580 migration experience.
- Pipeline operations or terminal automation experience.
- Experience leading technical teams or work packages.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility.
- AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical experience.
- Field commissioning and startup experience.
