We are looking for a highly analytical, commercially minded Engineer to join a large construction organization in Vaughan ON

This is a unique prospect for someone who combines engineering knowledge, exceptional Excel/data analytics skills, project cost control, and strong business acumen .

You will work closely with Estimators, Project Managers, Foremen, and senior leadership to ensure projects are on budget, on schedule, and performing as expected . More importantly, you will be expected to identify gaps, uncover risks, and find opportunities to improve project profitability and save money.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor project budgets, costs, timelines, and overall financial performance.
- Participate in weekly project meetings with Estimators, Project Managers, Foremen, and other stakeholders.
- Track budget vs. actual costs , identify variances, and provide recommendations.
- Analyze project data to identify cost overruns, inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for savings.
- Develop and maintain detailed Excel-based reports, dashboards, forecasts, and financial analysis.
- Provide management with clear and actionable project performance reports.
- Challenge assumptions and proactively identify areas where projects may be falling behind financially or operationally.
- Monitor project progress against budgets and schedules.
- Support forecasting, cost projections, change orders, and project profitability analysis.




- Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Work cross-functionally with project teams to improve financial and operational performance.
- Help establish and improve project controls, reporting processes, and analytical tools.

What We're Looking For

- P.Eng. designation or eligibility is strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in construction, engineering, project controls, cost control, or a related project environment .
- Background in construction, civil, mechanical, industrial, process engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Exceptional Excel skills advanced users who genuinely enjoy working with data and complex spreadsheets.
- Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and project reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand how operational decisions impact project costs and profitability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with people at all levels of an organization and presenting information to senior leadership.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Plexxis or other construction management/project control software.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, or other data analytics tools.
- Previous experience in project controls, cost engineering, or construction project financial management.
