Mission StatementThe Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.Groundskeeping work is a specialized type of facilities maintenance focused on maintaining the grounds of buildings/industrial facilities including: •Performing a combination of cutting lawns, trimming and edging around walks, flower beds, and walls; pruning shrubs and trees, spraying lawns, shrubs, and trees; planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; watering lawns and shrubs; cleaning out drainage ditches and culverts •Removing snow from pedestrian and vehicle areas and may perform minor maintenance on roads, curbs, sidewalks, and storm drains •Mixing and applying pest control material in accordance with government regulations •May operate tractors equipped with attachments such as mower, fertilizer spreader, and lawn rollerJob DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY : This position provides required sanitation, cleaning, and custodial service to custodial standards ensuring the building environment is healthy and comfortable.Accountabilities:Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below:Custodial:

- Works independently or cooperatively with team members to complete tasks on schedule and according to quality standards.
- Cleans windows, mirrors, woodwork, furniture, equipment, and other surfaces.
- Cleans washroom facilities and shower rooms.
- Supplies toilet paper, paper towels, soap,



and other hygiene items.
- Spot cleans carpets and performs general carpet cleaning, as required.
- Performs more extensive cleaning, carpet cleaning, stripping and waxing floors, and light Maintenance: during non-peak programming periods.
- Monitors and maintains stock of regularly used items, i.e., Informs supervisor of general repairs and Maintenance: items requiring attention.
- Performs minor repairs such as electrical (change light bulbs) and plumbing (unblocking toilets, troubleshooting flushing issues), wall parch-painting, light furniture fixing (tighten screws) reports safety concerns and major repair issues to supervisor.
- Follows established procedures and record keeping for inventory tracking.
- Lifts and moves furniture as requested.
- Performs laundry service as required by program/department needs.
- Complies with all prescribed sanitation and building disinfecting protocols. Administrative:
- Attend meetings as requested by supervisor.
- Attends specialized work training when scheduled.
- FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:Minor material responsibility.This is a minimum 15-hour permanent part time position, Monday to Friday noon-3 pmAdditional scheduling as requiredHandles garbage and cleans up human waste and biohazard substances.Odours, exposure to toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, and infectious diseases.Risk of needle pricks, back injuries, and repetitive strain injuries.Works in various weather conditions when working outdoors.Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.Education:High School Diploma or equivalencyWHIMIS certified or willingness to complete certificationExperience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:At least two years of prior cleaning experience.Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
