This position plays an important role in the Enterprise Custom Applications team within Nutrien’s IT, Enterprise Applications organization. Our focus is on building scalable, sustainable, and user-centered applications that enable operational efficiency and align with enterprise goals.
SDET reports to the Manager, Technology Delivery and contributes to the quality of custom applications through software testing, test automation, and quality assurance activities. Working alongside developers, testers, and product teams, you will help build and maintain automated tests, execute test plans, identify defects, and support the delivery of reliable software solutions. This is a hands-on technical role that offers opportunities to develop expertise in modern testing practices, automation frameworks, AI-assisted testing tools, and quality engineering processes while collaborating with experienced team members across the software development lifecycle.
Contribute to test automation initiatives while performing manual testing where appropriate. Develop, maintain, and enhance automated tests for UI, API, integration, and performance testing.
Support the development and execution of automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
Follow established QA practices, standards, and testing processes to help ensure software quality. Participate in test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and quality reporting activities. Perform hands-on testing and actively contribute to day-to-day quality assurance activities.
Collaborate with developers, testers, product owners, and business analysts to validate requirements and ensure quality outcomes. Learn and leverage AI-powered and agentic testing tools to support test design, automation development, defect analysis, and quality validation activities. Assist in identifying opportunities to improve test coverage, automation, and testing efficiency.
Track quality metrics, report defects, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. ~0–3 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, software development, or a related technical role. ~ Basic understanding of QA methodologies, test automation, and modern software development practices (Agile, DevOps) ~ Exposure to automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Postman, or similar testing frameworks.
~ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to learn and grow in software quality engineering. ~ Exposure to software application development, testing, or support through coursework, internships, co-op programs, or skilled experience. ~ Familiarity with source control, CI/CD concepts, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), databases, or modern development tools is considered an asset. ~ Interest in AI-powered development and testing tools, including AI-assisted automation and agentic workflows.
