Position Maintenance 1 New Competition 2026 293 Status Casual Department Facilities Union Association CUPE Hours of Work 75 hours Monday to Friday 0700 1500 subject to change based on operational needs Salary 3272 to 3362hour POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance 1 position is required to work under the direction of the Facilities and Infrastructure Manager in the Maintenance Department at the Brockville General Hospital The Maintenance 1 technician participates as a member of the Maintenance team by performing routine maintenance and repairs Performs maintenance tasks and repairs that support the BGH preventative maintenance program and assists other trades as required Participates in hospital wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives Education &





Experience Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude in performing minor repairs to doors windows floors drywall and painting normally acquired through formal training or on the job experienceKnowledge of preventative maintenance programs WHMIS and health and safety regulationsKnowledge and ability to source parts and work effectively vendors and contractorsExperience in general and preventive maintenance preferably in an institutional or hospital environmentPreference will be given to the individual with 5 years of construction experience or qualificationsSkills & Knowledge Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a member of a trade team and the demonstrated ability to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff management patients and the general publicMust have valuable communication skills and demonstrated arithmetic proficiency to calculate material requirements and estimate costsMust be self starter flexible dependable and conscientiousAble to adapt to changing priorities and work with minimal supervisionPreparing material take offs and cost estimates for proposed workMaintaining inventory of hardware equipment supplies and associated materialsPerforms duties related to ongoing preventative maintenanceEnsuring work area is secure and safety precautions are followedCoordinates with and assists other tradesmen in major projects or repairs as required and assignedGeneral maintenance duties in the department as required and assigned
