Job Post End Date: 09/16/2026 Reporting to the Mechanical Coordinator, the Maintenance Technician, Millwright is responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment supporting Cenovus's Christina Lake SAGD operations. Working within a multidisciplinary maintenance team, the successful candidate will ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support operational excellence through preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

Experience working in a Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) facility is considered a strong asset, with knowledge of oil sands production equipment, steam generation systems, processing facilities, and reliability-centered maintenance practices. While this vacancy is currently at Christina Lake North this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Christina Lake North, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need). This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation All Oil Sands Operations sites have full-service camp facilities and recreational amenities.

Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.

Foster

Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB.

Christina

Lake, Christina Lake North and Sunrise have service flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton. Saskatoon will become a service flight hub effective September 1, 2026. There will also be bus transportation to these sites from La Corey, AB / Lac La Biche, AB effective September 1, 2026.

Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on rotating and stationary equipment. Conduct precision laser alignments, bearing replacements, mechanical seal installations, and coupling repairs. Troubleshoot mechanical failures and determine root causes to improve equipment reliability and performance.

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, P&IDs;, and maintenance procedures. Support facility turnarounds, planned outages, and major maintenance activities.



Collaborate with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, and contractor personnel to optimize asset performance.

Complete work orders and maintenance documentation within SAP or other CMMS systems. Participate in hazard assessments, field-level risk assessments, and secure work permitting processes. Maintain compliance with Cenovus safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the site.

Minimum Journeyman

Millwright and 2 years’ experience. Dual ticket certification for Pipefitter or Machining would be considered an asset.

Experience with maintenance management systems (SAP or CMMS). Strong experience maintaining rotating and stationary mechanical equipment and proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical.

Experience working in Oil sands production and processing facility and/or a SAGD facility considered an asset.

Experience maintaining steam generation, produced water, and heavy oil processing equipment considered an asset. Vibration analysis and predictive maintenance experience considered an asset.

Experience supporting shutdowns and turnaround activities considered an asset. Participation in hazard assessments, field-level risk assessments, and safe work permitting processes considered an asset. As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. Internal candidates that are currently in a lower grade will be assessed based on their sustained job performance,
