The Medical Office
Assistant (MOA) provides administrative and clerical support to Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and patients at the Martin Street Outreach Clinic and Urgent & Primary Care Centre. This role ensures smooth clinic operations and a welcoming environment for all. This position reports to the MOA Coordinator at OneSky Community Resources. Daily work is directed by Interior Health’s Clinic Manager and the Martin Street Outreach Clinic’s Provider Collective.
Clinic Overview Martin Street Outreach Clinic
This clinic provides long-term, relationship-based primary care to individuals with complex health needs, including mental health challenges, substance use, and social vulnerabilities. Services are delivered by a collaborative team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, and allied health professionals. The clinic operates as anOAT (Opioid Agonist Treatment) Clinic, offering supervised medication such as methadone or suboxone to support individuals with opioid use disorders.
Mental health and substance use support Preventive care and health education Coordination with community resources and social services The clinic is operated in partnership with Interior Health and works closely with community agencies such as Pathways Addictions Resource Centre, South Okanagan Women in Need Society (SOWINS), and other local service providers to ensure wraparound support for patients. Urgent & Primary Care Centre Operating during evenings and weekends, this centre provides same-day access to care for non-life-threatening health concerns. It serves individuals, families, and seniors who may not have a regular primary care provider or need timely medical attention.

Registry support to help patients find long-term care providers Administrative & Clerical Support Maintain efficient clinic operations through scheduling, document preparation, and provider support Facilitate telephone conferencing and meetings as directed by the Clinic Manager and Providers Prepare and send requisitions, referrals, and medical documentation Submit billing through Teleplan/MSP and manage third‑party billings (e.g.,
communicate daily billing documentation to the Billing Clerk Manage incoming and outgoing phone calls, emails, and faxes, relay messages promptly Participate in data collection, evaluation, and quality assurance activities provide assistance or redirect concerns to the Clinic Manager or delegate Support intake and referral processes for long-term primary care, including coordinating with a Social Worker Communicate test results and appointment details to patients as directed Pap smear slides, swabs) to labs for analysis Ensure health and safety standards are followed Respond to emergency situations appropriately Medical Office Assistant Certificate/Diploma, or equivalent education and experience in an administrative or clinical setting Experience supporting vulnerable populations, including individuals with mental health, substance use, or socio-economic challenges Training in trauma-informed practice is an asset Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills Proficient in English (written and verbal) Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel Knowledge of medical terminology and community medical resources At OneSky Community Resources, we believe in the strength of community, the importance of connection, and the dignity of every individual.
