At Taproot Community Support Services, we’re a 100 percent employee-owned organization through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). We walk alongside about 1,600 children, youth, families, and people with diverse abilities, with revenues exceeding $70 million. This October 2026 Taproot will be opening this new group home in the Abbotsford area. This home supports two (2) individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Home Based Community

Inclusion services are intended to ensure the persons serviced supported in the home receive the ongoing support they require to participate in the community in a meaningful way. Some of the activities may include all the residents of the home while other activities may require more of an individualized approach. These services are designed to support persons served to have rich lives within the community and any supports provided will take into consideration the persons served current behavioural, mental health and other disability-related needs, support preferences, and their goals.

The awake residential night worker (ARNW) for this licensed, accredited agency attends to the health, well-being, safety and security of residents and the program site at night, and provides general, non-specific services to clients as required. This position will be alone during the overnight hours and must feel comfortable working alone,



with support from fellow team members and the On-Call Manager, as needed. One (1) permanent full time position working 40 hours per week : ~ Monday through Friday, 2300-0700 Monitors residents through the night and attends to any medical and behavioural needs that arise during the night.

Follows through on direction regarding specific residents left by the day staff. responds to emergencies according to established policies and procedures. Supports residents with their morning and evening routines at the beginning and end of shift. Ensures residents follow house rules; Administers medications to residents according to established policy and procedure.

Manages light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, emptying garbage, cleaning and laundry; performs minor building maintenance such as changing light bulbs; Complies with policies, procedures and values of the agency, and uses best practices when supporting residents. secures the building by arming alarms and locking doors and windows. Prepares and assists residents in breakfast preparation. Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter.





These checks vary depending on province and sector and will be communicated by the Program Hiring Team. Grade 12 education PLUS certificate, OR minimum of 6 months equivalent experience in related human/social service field Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 (or ability to obtain within the probation period) Experience with behaviour management, basic sign language and/or alternative communications strategies training Ability to use common computer applications required (training provided) Experience working with complex health (including personal hygiene and seizures) is preferred What Taproot Community Support Services Does At Taproot, your passion for helping others can truly make a difference.
