Role Description
This is a part-time contract position for a Pediatric Occupational Therapist based in Calgary, AB. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing and providing therapy to children with various neurodevelopmental and/or mental health needs to enhance their functional abilities. We value an integrated, family-centered approach and believe that collaboration between professionals can provide families with more cohesive care.
Common Reasons for Referral Include:
- Activities of daily living, including hygiene, dressing, toileting, eating, and sleep
- Executive functioning, organization, planning, and time management
- Emotional regulation and coping skills
- Sensory processing and regulation
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Handwriting and other school-related skills
- Play and social participation
- Household routines and age-appropriate responsibilities
- Medication routines and other functional life skills
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists
- Experience working with children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, executive functioning difficulties, and motor skill challenges
- Strong skills in family-centered practice and collaborative teamwork
- Ability to develop practical, individualized goals in collaboration with children and their families
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have availability to work one weekday or evening per week, as well as at least one weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) per month; hours are very versatile
- Access to a vehicle and willingness to offer in-home services to our Calgary clients/families as needed
