Tasks include the below, but are not limited to:
Day-to-day job typically revolves around various clerical tasks, including bookkeeping (essential), organizing files, answering emails and supporting the reception with the telephone, customer service tasks and taking payments.
Preparing month-end reports.
Preparing financial documents for monthly Board of Directors meetings.
Sending claims to funeral insurance companies.
Making bank deposits.
Processing payroll for all employees as well as issuing job releases when applicable.
Responsible for advertising in the community, local newspapers, associations, etc.
Responsible for ordering funeral supplies.
Entering credit cards receipts and balancing Visa statements.
Filing HST remittance reports and sending to Revenue Canada.
Paying quarterly Income Tax.
Overseeing debenture renewals and making year-end T5s.
Filling out various reports to Financial and Consumer Commission.
Preparing documents for annual meetings.
Preparing documents for year-end financial statements.
Skills and qualifications:
Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace.
Good English and French written and verbal communication skills essential.
Knowledge of basic computer programs and positive typing skills.
Experience in bookkeeping is mandatory. Quickbooks would be an asset.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Positive communication and customer service skills.
