Every year CHEO helps more than 500,000 children and youth from Eastern Ontario, western Quebec, Nunavut and Northern Ontario. In keeping with CHEO’s mission statement, the vascular access resource nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating practices as it relates to the management of complex phlebotomies, peripheral lines and central lines. As an educator,



the vascular access nurse facilitates knowledge transfer internally as well as externally with community partners.

They will promote best practices in pediatric vascular access at CHEO and participate in the orientation of all new nursing staff ensuring consistency in practices across the organization.
