The members of BlackBerry’s Security Incident Response Team (BBSIRT) deliver on this promise by ensuring the ongoing security, resilience, and software integrity of our products and services.We are looking for a security-minded student to support our efforts in responding to emergent software-based cyber threats or incidents involving BlackBerry products and services. The successful candidate will work in a energetic and challenging environment, collaborating with various teams across the organization to support vulnerability identification, analysis, and mitigation efforts.

The role centers on solving problems at the intersection of technology and people.What you will doDevelop systems and workflows to scale security effortsUse agentic tools to locate, assess, and recommend remediation for software vulnerabilitiesTriage vulnerabilities and quantitatively evaluate risk using industry standard metrics such as CVSSPrioritize and coordinate case-specific response activities, driving timely and appropriate remediation of issues. Reporting the problem is not enough; solutions should be offeredContinually deepen knowledge and skills in support of maintaining the security of BlackBerry customersWho we are looking forCurrently pursuing a post-secondary degree/diploma (Bachelors, Masters, or equivalent)
in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field of studyPython programming and debugging experienceExperience with agentic coding assistantsAbility to analyze code behaviorAble to track and manage numerous parallel activitiesStrong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiencesDemonstrates analytical skillsAble to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary teamAbove and beyondKnowledge of secure software development lifecycleUnderstands common classes of product security vulnerabilities and attack/defense methodologiesKnowledge of application security configuration and best practicesReverse engineering skillsSome knowledge of cryptography, including public key cryptography, hashes and SSL/TLS.Ability to create proof of concept exploits for common types of vulnerabilityIf you're driven to take secure communications technologies to the next level, it's time you join the team at BlackBerry.
