As part of a team specializing in application maintenance and Mainframe environments, the intern will progressively participate in the analysis, correction, development, and testing of COBOL programs. They will be supported and mentored by experienced team members to develop their skills in a production and managed services environment.

Start Date: January 2027 Application Deadline: September 28th, 2026 CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $18-32/hour. This role is an existing vacancy.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Analyze and understand existing COBOL programs.
- Participate in resolving defects and implementing simple application enhancements under supervision.
- Perform targeted development while following team standards.
- Perform unit testing and contribute to integration testing.
- Participate in incident analysis and resolution.
- Contribute to technical documentation and change tracking.
- Collaborate with development, support, and operations teams.
- Good written and verbal proficiency in French is required for this position.

- Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in programming and algorithms.
- Comfortable with database and data processing concepts.
- Demonstrated curiosity and interest in Mainframe environments and critical applications.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Robust teamwork skills and clear communication.
- Motivated to learn specialized technologies.
Desired Skills
- Academic or personal knowledge of COBOL.
- Basic knowledge of SQL or DB2.
- Basic knowledge of JCL or the z/OS environment.
- Knowledge of a structured or procedural programming language.
