Position Overview The Clinical Educator provides leadership in the assessment of learning needs, and in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs for staff.

The educator acts as a role model and change agent.

Experience Experience in program planning, development and evaluation required.

Demonstrated clinical expertise in surgery or critical care required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or related undergraduate degree required.

Masters degree in Nursing or related discipline preferred.

Certificate in adult education preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration Current registration with CRNM.

Instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required.

Appropriate C.N.A.

Certification (or equivalent), for program area.

Active participation in professional associations e.g.

Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.





Qualifications and Skills Knowledge (this may include but not be limited to): Demonstrate progressive levels of responsibilities and leadership skills required.

College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered nurses.

Canadian Nursing Association code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.

Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), Regional Facility/unit policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.

Nursing care knowledge related to clinical areas.

Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.

Principles of delegation.

Ability to effectively work within an interdisciplinary team.

Demonstrated evidence of personal and skilled growth and development through continuing education and committee work required.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Demonstrates critical thinking/problem-solving skills.

Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.

Ability to perform independently and as a member of the interdisciplinary health team.

Demonstrates effective Coaching Skills.





Maintains and improves clinical expertise through formal and informal education opportunities.

Physical Requirements Moderate physical effort required.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
