At the beginning of each school year, collaborate and prepare with teachers the student IEPs,
behaviour reports and student service referrals as necessary for review by the Principal.
Develop Individual Education
Plans and Smart Goals in collaboration with classroom teachers. Use appropriate and effective classroom management skills and techniques to keep students organized, focused, and attentive.
Ensure
Community values, culture, language, and concepts are embedded throughout the School and its classrooms. Assist support workers with the development and implementation of behavior and academic support plans. Fulfill required duties as per BC teaching standards.
Conference with support staff to assess students. Create report cards and provide interim reports. Keep Dibels (data reporting system) up to date. Participate in school-based team meetings, Professional Learning Communities meetings and professional development opportunities on a regular basis.
Participate in extra-curricular activities related to students and the School (e.g. Open Houses, Running Club, etc.). Teaching students to develop learning strategies for use in classroom settings or for independent learning.
Collaboration with classroom teachers, students and parents to design or implement instructional strategies or to adapt instructional content or materials which may facilitate learning for a student or group of students. Assist in the development and implementation of programs, processes, etc.
aimed at achieving goals related to education set out in the strategic plan. Contribute educational expertise or resources to the creation and implementation of a ktunaxa revitalization strategy.
In order to qualify for the Student Services/Prep Coverage Teacher role, you must have: Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent.
Teaching
Certificate.
Experience working in a First Nation environment is an asset.
Experience working with individuals with Special Needs is an asset. Previous teaching experience is a definite asset.
Salary will commensurate with experience from a range ($61,000-72,000) and includes a favorable perks package and pension plan. Preference will be given to candidates of Ktunaxa or other Indigenous ancestry and ʔaq̓am encourages applicants to self-identify within your application.
