ABOUT THE CHANCE
The Surgical Services Program of NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites applications for a full-time Comprehensive Otolaryngologist within the Division of Otolaryngology at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, NL.
The successful candidate will join a team of nine (9) surgeons within the Division of Otolaryngology, providing comprehensive care to patients across Newfoundland and Labrador.
The successful candidate will be primarily based at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital and will also hold credentials at the Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre and Health Sciences Centre, all located in St. John's.
The full-time position will encompass an equal divisional share of main operating room time, clinic time, and minor procedure time. On-call expectations are distributed equitably across active divisional members and include province-wide coverage for adult and pediatric populations.
The successful candidate must have a strong interest in comprehensive otolaryngology and in pursuing a strong academic career. Active participation in the Division's academic, research, and education initiatives — including teaching and supervision of undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees — is expected. Opportunities for academic appointment are available through the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Otolaryngology (or equivalent)
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Strong research interest and/or advanced degree
- Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive otolaryngology services including operating room cases, outpatient clinics, and minor procedures
- Deliver province-wide on-call coverage for adult and pediatric populations shared equitably among divisional members
- Hold credentials and provide services across St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre, and Health Sciences Centre as required
- Contribute actively to the Division's academic, research, and education initiatives
- Supervise and teach undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary surgical team
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION
Remuneration is Fee-For-Service in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) Fee Schedule.
