About the Role This is a practice lead seat at a pioneering AI-native Canadian immigration law firm with nearly five decades of brand equity in the space.

The firm runs one of the most visited immigration resources in the country and has an internal engineering team that builds custom tools directly on top of its case management platform.

The Criminal Inadmissibility practice is one of its fastest-growing areas, and this hire will own it: the legal work, the team, the metrics, and the growth trajectory, with a defined path to General Manager and full P&L; responsibility over the business line.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Canadian lawyer with a genuine interest in how AI changes legal practice, not as an observer but as a participant.

They have handled immigration and criminal inadmissibility matters (TRPs, Criminal Rehabilitation, admissibility hearings), have led or mentored people, and are comfortable owning a dashboard as much as a file.

Leadership maturity matters more than a fixed year count.

Someone who gets excited about building workflows, coaching a team, and watching a practice become more efficient is exactly who this role was written for.

Key Responsibilities Lead the Criminal Inadmissibility department and manage a team of approximately three case managers, setting clear expectations and holding the team accountable to service standards Provide senior legal oversight on complex criminal inadmissibility matters including Temporary Resident Permits, Criminal Rehabilitation applications, and related admissibility issues Own the practice''s operational metrics through the firm''s internal operations dashboard, tracking file throughput,



client satisfaction (CSAT), case manager response times, and stuck files, and running weekly performance reviews Partner with the internal CTO and engineering team to prototype and build AI-powered tools that make the practice more effective and scalable Drive the practice from operational stabilization into growth by expanding capacity, improving the client experience, and increasing profitability Step into General Manager responsibility over the business line as a strong performer, taking on revenue targets, staffing decisions, and growth strategy Required Skills & Experience Licensed lawyer in good standing with a Canadian law society and eligible to practise in Canada; foreign-trained lawyers who completed a Canadian equivalency and passed the bar qualify 3 to 9 years of practice, with the real bar being leadership maturity rather than a fixed year count Immigration law experience, ideally with exposure to criminal inadmissibility matters (TRPs, Criminal Rehabilitation, admissibility issues) Demonstrated people leadership: managing, mentoring, or supervising a team, giving direct feedback, and operating with an ownership mindset AI-native mindset: actively uses tools such as Claude and ChatGPT and is genuinely excited to apply AI to legal workflows Operationally and commercially minded, comfortable with metrics and dashboards, and able to think about how a legal practice makes money Located in Canada Preferred Skills Specific criminal law practice experience Ability to build or prototype AI tools directly; vibe-coding working prototypes is a strong plus Based in Toronto and able to work a hybrid schedule
