We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in underground utility construction and trenchless technologies who is looking to take ownership of the estimating process from opportunity identification through to project award. You'll work closely with our Operations and Project Management teams to develop competitive, accurate estimates that reflect real-world field execution.

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Hydrovac / Hydro Excavation

Utility Daylighting & Utility Exposure

Water & Wastewater Utility Infrastructure

Underground Conduit Installation

Trenchless Utility Construction

Key Responsibilities

Lead the estimating process from opportunity identification through project award

Review drawings, specifications, contracts, geotechnical reports and tender documents

Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and detailed cost estimates

Develop pricing for labour, equipment, materials, trucking, subcontractors and specialty services

Estimate HDD production, equipment requirements, bore installation costs and HDPE installations

Prepare estimates for Hydrovac excavation, utility daylighting, utility exposure and underground support services

Evaluate constructability, underground utility conflicts, access limitations, production rates and project risks

Develop competitive pricing while maintaining company profitability

Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations





Prepare RFIs and coordinate tender clarifications

Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as required

Work closely with Operations and Project Management to ensure estimates reflect actual field production and execution

Participate in bid review meetings with senior leadership

Prepare professional tender submissions and client proposals

Support project turnover meetings following contract award

Assist with change orders, project costing and budget reviews

Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, production rates and equipment costs

Build robust relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors

Stay current with Ontario utility construction standards and trenchless construction best practices

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of estimating experience in underground utility construction, HDD, or trenchless construction

Strong knowledge of Ontario utility construction standards and regulations

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and geotechnical reports

Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills

Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required

Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field considered an asset

Compensation Pay: CA$52,363.99-CA$115,422.00 per year
