The Liquor Store Clerk provides clerical, merchandising, and cashier services, and assists with sales promotion in a government liquor outlet in a manner which complies with all provincial regulations. The position supports the PEI Liquor Control Commission's (PEILCC) mission by delivering exceptional service, contributing to the achievement of the organizational goals, and promoting responsible consumption of alcohol. The work schedule for this position is flexible and will include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Hours will be scheduled based on operational needs.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

- Promotes responsible consumption practices and supports the PEILCC's commitment to social responsibility while providing professional and courteous service;
- Provides excellent service as set out by PEILCC's customer service guidelines;
- Assists customers with purchases and/or inquiries in a helpful and friendly manner;
- Balances a cash float prior to the start of shift;




- Signs onto cash register and bank terminal;
- Processes sales transactions in an accurate and timely fashion;
- Scans or manually keys Universal Product Code numbers of products being purchased by customer;
- Receives cash or credit/debit card as payment;
- Processes card payments, makes change, and provides receipt;
- Bags items;
- Purchases change from safe if required;
- Maintains accuracy of cash on-hand at all times;
- Keeps work area clean, organized, and secure;
- Signs off register and bank terminal;
- Balances cash to terminal readings;
- Presents a positive image for PEILCC; and
- Maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other stores, and head office.
- Other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Experience in customer service;
- Experience in use of a Point-of-Sale terminal;
- Capable of lifting merchandise up to 20kg for continuous periods of time;
- Capable of safe operation of hand and electric pallet jack;
- Knowledge of legislative and policy framework that governs the operation of the PEILCC retail store;
- Excellent customer service and communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently;
- Ability to learn and adapt to new procedures quickly; and
- Must be available for a flexible work schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
