Becoming: Academic Tutoring is a growing academic tutoring company dedicated to helping students strengthen their skills, build confidence, and succeed in school.
We provide individualized and small-group academic support in Math, Literacy, and foundational academic skills for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.
We are looking for reliable, responsible and enthusiastic tutors who genuinely enjoy working with children and take pride in helping students make meaningful academic progress.
This is an excellent opportunity for a university student, graduate, teacher candidate, educator, or experienced tutor looking for meaningful part-time work.
The Position
As an Academic Tutor with Becoming, you will work directly with students to provide engaging, individualized academic support.
Depending on the assignment, tutoring may take place in the student's home, public library, or online.
Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Academic Tutor/ Independent Contractor specializing in Math and Literacy for students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. This exciting role offers the chance to inspire and empower young learners in Mississauga and surrounding areas by providing personalized, engaging, and effective tutoring sessions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions focused on Math and Literacy skills across K-12 levels.
- Assess each student’s current understanding and develop customized lesson plans to address individual needs.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and educational resources to make learning enjoyable and effective.
- Track student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback to students and parents as appropriate.
- Support students in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, reading comprehension, writing skills, and overall academic confidence.
- Maintain a positive,
encouraging environment that motivates students to reach their full potential.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and program coordinators to ensure consistent progress and address any learning challenges.

Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children or youth in an educational or tutoring setting.
- Strong knowledge of Math and Literacy curriculum for K-12 students.
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Demonstrated writing skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
- Classroom experience or previous tutoring experience is highly desirable.
- Passionate about education with a patient, adaptable approach to diverse learning styles.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans tailored to individual student needs.
