Overview

We are looking for a composer under pressure, detail-oriented, and guest-focused assistant manager/server to join our team.

Role Summary The Assistant Manager is the front-of-house presence on the floor during assigned services, responsible for the guest experience, service standards, and staff coordination in the Operations Manager's absence. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fine dining setting, combining floor management, team supervision, and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead FOH operations during assigned shifts, including opening and closing duties as a designated keyholder
- Uphold fine dining service standards across greeting, pacing, table maintenance, and guest recovery
- Manage reservations, seating flow, and VIP or special-occasion bookings
- Resolve guest concerns in the moment and escalate patterns to the Operations Manager
- Supervise support staff during service
- Run pre-shift briefings covering menu changes, specials, allergens, and service priorities
- Support onboarding and ongoing training of FOH staff




- Assist with scheduling and timesheet accuracy in line with Ontario ESA requirements (breaks, hours, public holiday entitlements)
- Apply the restaurant's tip pooling policy correctly and transparently
- Oversee cash handling, POS reconciliation, and end-of-night reporting (TouchBistro)
- Monitor inventory levels for FOH and bar; flag reorder needs
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and AGCO liquor service obligations

Requirements
- 2+ years in a supervisory role in fine dining or upscale hospitality
- Robust working knowledge of wine, spirits, and Italian cuisine (or demonstrated capacity to learn quickly)
- Smart Serve certification (or ability to obtain before start)
- Bilingual an asset
