THE IMPACT OF THIS ROLE

Banquet Server will be responsible for the setting, serving and tearing down of the banquet functions as directed by the banquet event orders and departmental standards. Must remain professional at all times maintaining courteous service at the highest level. Also assists in the maintenance of the Banquet area and equipment. Must be an energetic individual who works efficiently during each shift.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Set up and prepare banquet rooms, tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and service stations according to event specifications.
- Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and understand event requirements, menus, timelines, and guest expectations.
- Welcome and assist guests throughout weddings, conferences, meetings, receptions, and other events.
- Provide professional food and beverage service, including plated meals, buffets, receptions, and cocktail functions.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently while following established service standards and presentation guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of menus, ingredients, beverages, and special dietary or allergy requirements.




- Communicate guest requests and special requirements to supervisors and kitchen/bar teams.
- Explicit and reset tables while maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the event.
- Assist with banquet room breakdown, equipment removal, and proper storage of banquet supplies after events.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace safety.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to the Banquet Supervisor or Manager when required.
- Coordinate with other banquet servers and departments to ensure smooth event operations and timely service.
- Assist with inventory, restocking, polishing glassware/cutlery, and preparing service equipment.
- Follow hotel policies, service standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Provide courteous, attentive, and personalized service to guests while maintaining a professional appearance.

CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: Must have 2 years experience as a banquet server in a luxury or ultra luxury hotel.

- Education: High School Diploma

- General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with speed and accuracy. Ability to prioritize, organize and follow directions thoroughly. Must be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.



Individual must be highly motivated and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and work cohesively with co-workers as part of a dynamic team. Must display excellent attention to detail and has a proven ability to work under minimal supervision during high volume situations. Candidate must demonstrate initiative, with the ability to anticipate guests’ needs. Knowledge of function preparation and room set-ups will be considered a strong asset.

- Technical Skills: Serving it Right Certificate required; Knowledge of FoodSafe. Organizational skills; Responsibility, Must demonstrate initiative and team work. Knowledge of food, wine and menu items; Knowledge of Hotel emergency & safety policies/procedures. Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, be well-organized and work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision. Must have excellent conflict resolution skills.

- Language: Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.

- Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.

- Licenses & Certifications: Serving it Right Certificate; Knowledge of FoodSafe

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

The pay scale for this position is between $18.34 and $24.87/hour plus tips. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
