Your Role at Manion
As the Bilingual Disability Case Manager, you will process and adjudicate short- and long-term disability claims, resolve client complaints, and maintain accurate, detailed verbal and written communication. You report directly to the Manager, Disability Department.
This is a 13-month contract position.
What to Expect
- First 30 Days: Communicate effectively with members to explain coverage details and requirements for ongoing claims management, while building a robust working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
- First 60 Days: Use expertise to assess medical documentation and essential job duties to determine whether the definition of total disability as per policy has been met.
- First 90 Days: Independently adjudicate and manage short- and long-term disability claims for assigned client group(s).
What You Will Do
- Process and adjudicate claims, establishing eligibility, reviewing medical documentation to determine if the definition of Total Disability is met, and accurately calculating earnings and benefit levels.
- Perform telephone interviews to gather key information and build rapport with claimants, requesting appropriate medical documentation (MC, MRT, IME, FCE, Rehab, etc.) as necessary.
- Maintain accurate, detailed claims documentation and confidentiality over client, corporate, and medical records.
- Adhere to department turnaround times for claims adjudication.
- Maintain accurate, detailed verbal and written communication.
- Display empathy and clearly explain details of coverage, client responsibilities, and next steps.
- Resolve client complaints and build strong working relationships.
- Establish good working relationships with unions and employers.
- Ensure privacy regulations are adhered to, releasing only allowable information to recognized recipients.
- Review claims holistically, considering all angles to determine a workable solution for all parties within the confines of the policy.
- Identify inefficient processes and bring them to management's attention with a workable solution.
- Work collaboratively with team members and clients to meet department turnaround standards.
What You Bring to the Team
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Health Sciences or a related discipline.
- Insurance/industry-related designations considered an asset (CEBS, LOMA, ALHC, CDMP, CRTWC).
- 4 years of disability industry or case management related work experience.

Your Compensation At the time of this posting, the estimated pay range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Individual compensation within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training. This range reflects the base pay and does not encompass our comprehensive total rewards, benefits, and potential bonuses that we proudly offer.
