Part-Time or Full-Time | Flexible Schedule | North Surrey / Port Kells
Are you good with numbers, comfortable with technology, and naturally organized?
We’re an established IT services company looking for a Bookkeeper & Business Operations Assistant to join our team.
This isn't just a traditional bookkeeping position. You'll work alongside IT professionals and be involved in the financial and administrative side of a technology business. For the right candidate, there is also an opportunity to expand this into a full-time position supporting two established local businesses.
If you enjoy figuring out how things work, learning new software, working with spreadsheets and data, and finding better ways to keep things organized, you may be a great fit.
You don't need to be an IT expert, but you should be comfortable with technology and interested in learning new systems and tools.
Part time or Full-Time — We're Flexible
We recognize that the right person may be looking for different things at this stage of their career, so we're open to either arrangement:
- Part-time: Approximately 20-25 hours per week supporting our IT services business, with some flexibility in days and hours.
- Full-time: For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to work approximately 35-40 hours per week, with your time shared between our company and another established local business.
The full-time option provides an interesting opportunity to work with two different businesses, accounting environments and operational systems, while maintaining the stability of a regular full-time position.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include a combination of bookkeeping, billing and business operations:
- Preparing customer invoices and assisting with billing
- Processing and organizing vendor invoices and expenses
- Assisting with accounts receivable and following up on outstanding items
- Preparing payroll information
- Performing day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting tasks
- Tracking and understanding revenue, expenses and cost of goods sold
- Working with spreadsheets, reports and business data
- Communicating with customers, vendors and team members
- Keeping financial records and documentation accurate and organized
- Following up on open items and helping keep administrative tasks moving
- Learning and working with different software platforms used to operate the businesses
- Identifying opportunities to simplify, improve or automate administrative processes
As you become familiar with the business, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities based on your skills and interests.
The Person We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in someone who combines bookkeeping knowledge with a strong comfort level around technology.
You should be
- Comfortable with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and Word
- Confident working with numbers and financial information
- Comfortable learning new software and online systems
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Able to troubleshoot simple problems and figure things out independently
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and data
- A clear and professional communicator
- Able to manage multiple priorities without losing track of details
- Curious, dependable and willing to learn
- Comfortable working independently as well as within a small team
Experience with bookkeeping or accounting is important,
but we're equally interested in finding someone with the right combination of accounting knowledge, technology skills and aptitude.
Experience with advanced Excel, reporting/BI tools, workflow automation, AI productivity tools or other business software would be considered an asset, but isn't required.
Why This Role Is Different
We're a small team of IT professionals, so you won't be buried inside a large accounting department.
You'll work directly with the people running the business, gain exposure to different areas of business operations, and have the opportunity to help improve the systems and processes we use.
For someone interested in technology as well as accounting, there is considerable opportunity to learn and grow with the position.
