POSITION OVERVIEW:
BCU Financial is seeking a motivated and analytical full-time Business Insights Analyst to join the Product, Sales & Marketing team. Reporting to the Manager, Product, Sales & Marketing, the role supports data-driven decision-making by analyzing member, product, sales, marketing, channel, and operational data. The analyst develops reports, dashboards, and performance insights that help leadership monitor results, identify trends, and measure organizational performance.
Working primarily with Product, Sales & Marketing and collaborating with Finance, Operations, Technology, and Member Service teams, the Business Insights Analyst transforms data into actionable business intelligence that supports planning, performance management, member growth, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate combines strong analytical capability, attention to detail, business curiosity, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Analytics & Insights
- Analyze member, product, channel, marketing, sales, and operational data to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities.
- Perform routine, ad hoc, and exploratory analyses in support of business initiatives and operational priorities.
- Interpret findings and develop clear, actionable recommendations for management and business partners.
- Conduct root-cause analysis to investigate performance variances, emerging issues, and business challenges.
- Prepare analytical summaries, presentations, and briefing materials for management and senior leadership.
Business Decision Support
- Provide analysis and performance information to support management decisions, operational reviews, and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with business cases, forecasting exercises, budgeting activities, and project evaluations.
- Evaluate the performance and business impact of products, services, campaigns, programs, and process enhancements.
- Participate in cross-functional projects by contributing analytical expertise, measurement frameworks, and evidence-based recommendations.
Member & Market Analysis
- Conduct member segmentation, demographic, behavioural, and lifecycle analyses to support growth and engagement strategies.
- Monitor member acquisition, retention, product adoption, channel utilization, and service usage trends.
- Analyze member behaviours and product utilization to identify opportunities to strengthen member experience and relationships.
- Research competitor activity, financial services trends, and market developments to support planning.
- Prepare comparative analyses and benchmarking reports on market position, member trends, and product performance.
Data Management & Quality
- Collaborate with Technology, Operations, Finance, Product, Sales, Marketing, and other business teams to ensure the availability and reliability of data sources.
- Investigate data discrepancies and recommend corrective actions to improve data quality, reporting accuracy, and consistency.
- Maintain documentation of reporting methodologies, calculation logic, business definitions, and analytical processes.
Performance Reporting & Dashboard Development
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, scorecards, recurring reports, and business intelligence tools based on approved business requirements.
- Collaborate with business owners to define, track, and report on approved key performance indicators and operational metrics.
- Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for management and leadership teams.
- Monitor performance against established targets and highlight significant trends, exceptions, and areas requiring attention.
- Automate and streamline reporting processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and data accessibility.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of reporting outputs and underlying data sources.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with business teams to understand operational challenges, analytical needs, and reporting requirements.
- Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide guidance to business users on interpreting reports, dashboards, performance metrics, and analytical findings.
- Assist users in understanding reporting tools and dashboard functionality.
- Encourage effective use of performance information and analytics across the organization.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, automation, and predictive analytics.
- Recommend enhancements to data visualization, KPI frameworks, and analytical methodologies.
- Remain current on business intelligence tools, analytics practices, financial services trends, and industry developments.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen organizational reporting and analytical capabilities.
Success Measures
- Accurate and timely reports, and analytical summaries.
- Clear identification of trends, exceptions, and areas requiring management attention.
- Improved visibility into member, product, sales, marketing, and operational performance.
- Effective support for business planning, performance monitoring, and decision-making.
- Strong collaboration with stakeholders and clear communication of findings.
- Continued improvement in reporting consistency, data quality, and dashboard usability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Three or more years of experience in business analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or performance measurement.
- Experience analyzing business data and translating findings into practical recommendations.
- Experience developing reports, dashboards, scorecards, and KPI tracking tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and practical experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, attention-to-detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to present data and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with business systems and information sources to extract, organize, validate, and analyze data.
Preferred Assets
- Experience in financial services, banking, credit unions, insurance, or another regulated industry.
- Experience supporting product, sales, marketing, member experience, or business performance initiatives.
- Experience with member or customer analysis, market research, forecasting, trend analysis, or business case development.
- Experience with CRM systems, business intelligence platforms, or enterprise reporting solutions.
- Experience with Power Query, data modelling, or DNA’s CRM BI tool.
- Knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, or statistical analysis techniques.
- Experience working in member-focused, community-based, or culturally diverse organizations.
COMPENSATION:
Salary Range: $68,000 - $82,000 annually
Compensation for this role will be determined based on experience and qualifications. BCU Financial also offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
