WorkSafeNB is seeking to fill a 2-year term contract position of Business System Owner - Finance.

Reporting to the Director, Accounting Operations and Benefit Payments, the Business System Owner (BSO) is the single point of business accountability for the value, performance, and long‑term effectiveness of Finance-related business systems, which includes Finance, Procurement, and Payroll systems. The BSO ensures that systems continue to support organizational strategy, operational needs, policy and regulatory requirements, and desired business outcomes throughout their lifecycle.

The BSO represents the voice and authority of the business and makes decisions about priorities, trade‑offs, risks, and value while partnering closely with IT Product Owners, Solution Delivery teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to enable effective delivery and ongoing operations.

The BSO provides strategic and operational leadership for Finance-related system capabilities within the organization. They ensure system functionality is aligned with business processes, organizational priorities, compliance requirements, and user needs, while supporting system integrity, operational effectiveness, and a consistent user experience.

The BSO serves as the primary business owner for Finance-related systems and partners closely with IT Product Owners, Solution Delivery teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to support system optimization, enhancements, release planning, and ongoing operations. They ensure business processes and requirements are effectively translated into system functionality that enables efficient, sustainable, and people-centered outcomes.

Salary and Hours of Work:

Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.

Pay Scale: $92,248.80 to $108,528.00 annually.

Responsibilities

• Business Ownership, System Vision and Outcomes - Own and maintain the business system vision, success measures, and value realization for Finance-related systems, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and priorities. • Business Demand, Prioritization and Decision-Making - Prioritize business demand and make decisions regarding scope, timing, and trade-offs to ensure optimal value and alignment.

• Stakeholder Alignment, Vendor Accountability and System Performance - Ensure alignment across stakeholders,



hold vendors accountable for delivering against business needs, and monitor system performance to drive continuous improvement and sustained business value.

• Adoption, Change and Business Readiness - Ensure the organization is equipped to effectively use the system and realize intended value.

• Business Requirements, Policy and Risk Management - Ensure business needs, policies, and regulatory requirements are clearly defined and reflected in system design and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or Information Systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, such as a 2-year diploma in a relevant field plus an additional 2 years of relevant experience.

- 5 to 7 years of combined experience in Finance-related business operations and enterprise systems (e.g., ERP and other core operational systems), with accountability for business outcomes, prioritization, decision-making, business requirements definition, outcome validation, and successful system adoption.
- Demonstrated understanding of full-cycle accounting principles, including general knowledge of procurement and payroll processes, and a solid understanding of core finance functions (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Procurement) and how they translate into system configuration and business processes.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations, assess competing priorities, evaluate risks, and make sound, well-reasoned decisions.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional discussions, align diverse stakeholders, and facilitate decision-making on priorities, trade-offs, and outcomes.
- Solid understanding of how technology enables business processes and outcomes, with the ability to partner effectively with IT teams and vendors.
- Experience supporting organizational change, adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives is an asset.




- A CPA designation would be considered an asset.
