About the Studio The Eccentric Artist Studio & Gallery is a small, upbeat pottery studio and creative space offering ceramics classes, mixed-media workshops, private events, and imaginative artistic experiences. As a young growing studio, our environment is energetic, collaborative, and constantly evolving. We are looking to add a dynamic, creative, and reliable individual to our team as a Caremics Teacher & Studio Technician who is passionate about the arts and enjoys working in a hands-on studio environment.

What You Bring

Teaching & Creative Skills

- Experience teaching handbuilding (minimum 1 year required; 3 years preferred)
- Confidence teaching children, teens, and adults
- Interest in teaching multiple mediums such as pottery, sculpture, watercolour, acrylic painting, block printing,



and other creative techniques
- Ability to follow established curriculum while helping students produce high-quality work
- Creativity and enthusiasm for developing new class samples, templates, handouts, and course ideas

Studio & Technical Experience
- Experience working with clay in a studio environment
- Intermediate knowledge of clay bodies and both paint-on and dip glazing (preferred)
- Wheel throwing experience (an asset)
- Ability to assist with kiln loading/unloading (with support)
- Comfortable with reclaim clay processing and wedging
- Ability to assist with studio cycles to ensure timely workflow of student pieces

Operations & Work Ethic
- Highly organized, productive, and able to multitask in a quick-paced environment
- Self-motivated, reliable, and responsible
- Flexible and adaptable in an environment where scheduled can shift
- Willingness to receive, process, and implement feedback from management

Studio Responsibilities You’re Comfortable With
- Preparing the studio before classes and completing thorough cleanup afterward
- Supervising Open Studio sessions, including setup,



orientation, Q&A;, and cleanup
- Oversee daily studio operations by maintaining equipment, managing supplies, scheduling classes, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Participating in staff meetings and collaborating with the Owner and team
- Greeting customers and assisting visitors in a friendly, qualified manner
- Promoting classes, workshops, and studio offerings when interacting with clients

Physical & Professional Requirements
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs and wedge reclaim clay regularly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Current Standard First Aid
- Clean Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required)
- Ability to reliably commute to Esquimalt, BC
- Secondary School education (preferred)

Employment Details

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Schedule: Minimum availability of one weekday and one weekend day and/or evening per week

Work Location: In person – Esquimalt, BC

Owner is available for interviews on Wednesdays.
