Job Purpose The Communications Specialist develops and delivers internal and external communications that support Coast Capital's strategic priorities, enhance and protect its reputation, and increase awareness of corporate initiatives, programs, products, and services. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organization, this role creates clear, engaging, and audience-focused communications that strengthen employee engagement, support member communications, and promote organizational objectives. The incumbent leverages robust writing, storytelling,
and relationship-building skills to deliver effective communication strategies and content across a variety of channels.
This role is hybrid remote, with occasional in-office attendance based on business needs our team currently meets in a monthly basis. The role may be based out of our Surrey, BC office or in Toronto, Ontario. Occasional travel may be required to support business initiatives, stakeholder events, and corporate activities.
This may include attendance at branch open houses, merger and integration initiatives, Annual General Meetings (AGMs), and other organizational events as needed. Travel requirements are project-based and are not expected to be frequent.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate with business partners across the organization to develop and execute communication plans that support strategic priorities, corporate initiatives, and business objectives.
- Create and deliver member-facing communications related to programs, products, services, and organizational initiatives, ensuring content is clear, concise, and written in member-friendly language.
- Develop, write, edit, and maintain a variety of communication materials, including emails, member letters, website content,
social media content, news releases, FAQs, articles, briefing materials, speeches, and key messages.
- Develop employee communications that inform and engage staff, including intranet content, newsletters, presentations, videos, leadership messages, and project-related communications.
- Write, schedule, publish, and maintain digital content across internal communication channels, including the corporate intranet.
- Support issues management and crisis communications by developing timely communications and stakeholder messaging related to operational disruptions and reputational matters.
- Develop and implement communications plans for corporate initiatives, strategic projects, governance activities, and organizational events.
- Provide writing, editing, and communications support for governance-related activities, including board recruitment and elections, annual and special general meetings, and corporate disclosures.
- Coordinate communication assets and, when required, support the planning and execution of photo, video, and other content production activities.
- Support the development of annual reports, corporate disclosure materials, presentations, and other organizational communication initiatives as required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Approximately 3 years of experience developing internal and/or external communications in a corporate, agency
