Provide crucial support for Indigenous students at the University of Victoria as a Culturally Responsive Indigenous Counsellor. This role focuses on individualized and group counselling to enhance student engagement and well-being. As a key member of the Student Wellness team, the Indigenous Counsellor will offer culturally sensitive services addressing personal, career, and learning challenges faced by diverse Indigenous students.
The role highlights your expertise in crisis response, training, and program development while contributing to a supportive campus culture. You will also mentor graduate students and provide outreach to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous community members. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counselling focused on Indigenous perspectives
- Conduct crisis assessments and interventions per protocols
- Collaborate on campus-wide health promotion initiatives
- Provide supervision to graduate students in training
- Maintain clinical documentation and regulatory compliance Requirements:
- Graduate degree in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work
- Three years of qualified counselling experience with Indigenous populations
- Participation in professional associations
- Strong commitment to reconciliation and equity principles
