About The Role The BCSC is seeking a full-time Data Analyst to join our Technology and Projects Services (TAPS) Division. This role is ideal for a technically skilled, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about data analysis and management. The successful candidate will serve as a key contributor in analyzing, collecting, preparing, and storing electronic data, supporting business intelligence initiatives, and ensuring data governance standards are upheld.

The Data

Analyst will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop insightful dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that facilitate informed decision-making. They will also be responsible for developing and maintaining complex SQL queries, optimizing data pipelines, and leveraging advanced analytics tools and cloud services such as Azure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the agency’s data-driven initiatives, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility across various platforms and projects.

Qualifications





- A diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with SQL and data analytics.
- Hands-on experience with T-SQL programming, JSON, Power Query, and Power BI.
- Proficiency with SQL Server, including SSIS and SSRS, and familiarity with Azure cloud analytics tools such as Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Azure SQL.
- Experience supporting data governance and data quality initiatives, including maintaining data dictionaries, lineage, and business rules.
- Knowledge of ELT and ETL principles, data transformation, and pipeline optimization.
- Experience with statistical programming languages such as R and Python, along with data modeling, warehousing, and mining techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into meaningful insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

- Collect, clean, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources to support reporting and strategic decision-making.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models for analytics and reporting purposes.
- Create and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present actionable insights.
- Utilize Azure cloud services and advanced analytics tools for data processing, automation,



and integration.
- Implement and enforce data management policies using Microsoft Purview to ensure data security and compliance.
- Maintain data classification, lineage, and governance standards to support data integrity and security.
- Develop and manage ETL and ELT pipelines leveraging SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse.
- Perform statistical analysis using R, Python, or other relevant languages to support analytics projects.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues and optimize data processing workflows.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective data solutions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Partner with internal teams such as Economic Analysis Data Science and Data Management to advance data initiatives.
