Job Overview
- Supply Chain Management (SCM) Data, Innovation & Analytics is seeking an experienced Data Scientist with strong Databricks expertise to design, develop, and operationalize scalable Supply Chain data products that drive measurable business value. This role combines advanced analytics, data engineering, data modeling, and product delivery capabilities to transform complex SCM data into trusted, governed, and actionable insights.
- The successful candidate will work closely with Supply Chain stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, supplier performance, spend visibility, and procurement decision-making. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain processes, enterprise data platforms, and contemporary analytics technologies, with a particular focus on Databricks-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver analytics solutions that address Supply Chain business challenges by leveraging expertise in oil and gas operations, procurement, supplier performance management, spend analytics, and enterprise value drivers.
- Design, build, test, and optimize scalable data models and ETL/ELT pipelines within Databricks using Python, PySpark, SQL, notebooks, workflows, and orchestration frameworks to support reliable Silver and Gold layer data products.
- Transform, integrate, and model data from enterprise platforms including Oracle Cloud, SAP, Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW), Microsoft Dataflow, Dataverse, and other approved data sources.
- Create and operationalize data products that support reporting, analytics, predictive insights, and business process optimization.
- Apply advanced analytics, machine learning, statistical modeling, and AI-assisted techniques where appropriate, including forecasting, classification, anomaly detection, text analytics, and natural language processing for both structured and unstructured SCM data.
- Analyze unstructured data sets, such as purchase order line descriptions, supplier comments,
and operational feedback, to uncover meaningful business insights and opportunities.
- Utilize Databricks platform capabilities, including Notebooks, Workflows, Jobs, Unity Catalog, SQL Warehouses, Genie Code, and Lakeflow/Lakeflow Designer, to accelerate solution development while maintaining enterprise governance and technical standards.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements, define success criteria, and translate business needs into scalable analytical solutions.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, performance, security, and governance across all developed solutions and data products.
- Maintain comprehensive project and solution documentation, including opportunity assessments, business requirements, solution designs, technical specifications, test results, and status reports.
- Communicate technical concepts, solution designs, project progress, and product outcomes to business stakeholders in a clear, concise, and non-technical manner.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance Supply Chain processes, analytics capabilities, and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain Management, data analytics, data engineering, data science, or product development.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Advanced proficiency in data science and analytics, including:
- Statistical analysis
- Predictive modeling
- Machine learning
- Sentiment analysis
- Data visualization
- AI-assisted analytics
- Advanced experience analyzing and extracting insights from unstructured data sources, including purchase order descriptions, supplier communications, customer feedback, and operational records.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, PySpark, and Databricks for large-scale data processing and analytics solution development.
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and the application of Generative AI technologies in enterprise environments.
- Experience developing solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, including:
- Copilot Studio
- Dataflow
- Dataverse
- Power Automate
- Model-Driven Apps
- Strong experience building workflow automation and low-code/no-code business solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP and Oracle Cloud modules, including Supply Chain Management, Accounts Payable, Projects, and Finance.
- Advanced SQL skills for data transformation, modeling, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Alteryx for data preparation, workflow automation, and analytics is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of the oil and gas industry.
- Deep knowledge of Source-to-Pay (S2P) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, procurement operations, supplier management, and associated business value drivers.
- Understanding of supply chain performance metrics, operational reporting, and strategic sourcing principles.
- Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery environments.
- Strong stakeholder management, consultation, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead discussions, facilitate requirements gathering sessions, and manage cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficiency with project documentation and business communication tools, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and related productivity applications.
