We are looking for an experienced demolition crew or contractor to take down two multi-unit buildings in Timmins, Ontario, starting this Monday, September 14, 2026. Total pay is $90,000 for both buildings combined, fixed price. Exact addresses will be provided to shortlisted applicants.

Both buildings are two-storey multi-unit residential structures with basements and cinder block foundations. Both were damaged by fire and are being taken down to grade. Foundations, basement floors and footings must be removed and the lots backfilled and graded.

BUILDING 1

Two storeys plus walk-in basement, 10 units. Vinyl siding, tinplate, stucco, faux stone and cedar shake exterior. Laneway access for equipment. Must be complete by September 30, 2026.

BUILDING 2

Two storeys plus basement, multi-unit, stucco exterior. Must be complete by October 30, 2026.

A City of Timmins Municipal Law Enforcement Officer will be on site for the duration of the work.

WHAT THE JOB INCLUDES

- Removing all interior contents, fixtures, furniture and debris (the buildings were never cleared out)
- Full demolition of wood-frame structures, stucco, siding and block walls
- Breaking out and removing foundation walls, basement floors and footings
- Sorting waste on site into separate streams: concrete, wood, metals, piping, clean fill, and asbestos material (required by the City landfill)
- Loading and hauling all debris to the Deloro Landfill; scrap metal to a salvage yard
- Backfilling with Granular B and finishing with 150 mm of Granular A, graded for drainage
- Fencing, barricades and traffic control for pedestrians and vehicles
- Capping the sanitary sewer at the lot line, shutting off water at the valve, removing gas lines (with utility coordination)




- Full yard clean-up at the end as directed by the on-site City officer

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS (please read before applying)

Designated Substance Surveys have been completed on both buildings and will be shared with the successful applicant.

- Building 1: Asbestos-containing textured ceiling found in one second-floor apartment. This must be removed under Ontario Regulation 278/05 by trained workers before that section comes down, double-bagged and manifested.
- Both buildings: Silica is present in all concrete, block, brick, parging and mortar. Wet cutting, dust control and respirators are required when breaking concrete and masonry.
- No lead paint, mercury, PCBs or other designated substances were found in the accessible areas. Some areas could not be inspected because of fire damage and debris, so unknown materials must be treated with caution.
- Do not enter either building until it has been cleared by the supervisor. Both structures have fire and structural damage.

REQUIREMENTS

- Previous residential or commercial demolition experience
- Access to an excavator (hydraulic thumb or shear preferred), skid steer or loader, and trucks or bins for hauling
- Crew of enough workers to finish Building 1 by September 30
- Asbestos abatement training (Type 1, 2 or 3) on the crew, or a certified sub you can bring in
- WSIB coverage and liability insurance
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Able to start Monday, September 14, 2026 in Timmins

ASSETS

- DZ or AZ licence for hauling to landfill
- Traffic control or flagging certification
- Working at Heights and WHMIS certificates
- References from similar demolition jobs in the last two years
