Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
- Assist with patient examinations by taking and updating medical and dental histories using dental office management software such as Dentrix.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to their needs.
- Support the dental team during procedures, including preparing instruments and ensuring sterilization protocols are followed.
- Manage patient flow efficiently, ensuring timely appointments and excellent customer service throughout their visit.
- Document treatment details accurately in the patient’s records while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with dentists and other staff to develop personalized care plans for pediatric and adult patients, including those undergoing orthodontic treatment.
Skills
- Proficiency with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software to schedule appointments and record patient information.
- Knowledge of orthodontics procedures and terminology to assist patients with braces or aligners.
- Bilingual abilities to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations and enhance overall patient experience.
- Experience in dental assisting, especially in pediatric dentistry, to support various treatment needs.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry for accurate documentation and communication.
- Excellent customer service skills to create a welcoming environment for all patients.
- Prior dental office experience that demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
