WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
As the Director, Executive Reporting & Engagement in Global Functions Technology, Chief Operating Office you will deliver high-impact, cohesive executive reports, drive strategic workforce initiatives to empower employees, enhance engagement, and align talent capabilities with Global Functions Technology goals.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Deliver Executive Reporting for the GFT and T&O; leadership – own and deliver Executive Reports: Develop high-quality, visually compelling reports Business Review Documents, Quarterly Business Reviews, highlighting progress against strategic goals, insights, and accomplishments.
- Collaborate with various SLT's COO Team and TCOO: Partner to synthesize data into actionable narratives, ensuring alignment between departmental and enterprise priorities.
- Maintain Strategic Framework: Establish and update a framework to track milestones and publish a monthly GFT executive summary to streamline quarterly/annual reviews.
- Lead and manage Employee Engagement & Upskilling Initiatives for the GFT - Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for employee engagement and upskilling initiatives tailored to GFT needs. Manage the GFT Employee Engagement, Communications and Upskilling teams that report into this role.
- Partner with Hub leaders and Halifax central team to plan initiatives (workshops, events) to foster collaboration, align employees with GFT priorities, and strengthen workplace culture.
- Measure Impact: Establish metrics to evaluate initiative effectiveness, including skill adoption rates, productivity improvements, and employee feedback. Ensure programs translate to tangible day-to-day performance gains. Ensure HR alignment for Upskilling and engagement as per the GFT SLT goals.
- Partnership & Collaboration:
Partner with local hub leader & pillar leads to enable hub identity execution and support local events such as Catalyst, Amplify, University/Campus events.
- People Manager Responsibilities: Provide leadership, coaching, and career development for direct reports. Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture through regular feedback, development planning, and recognition. Ensure alignment of team goals with GFT and enterprise objectives while supporting employee growth and retention.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in executive reporting, business analytics, or related functions with 3-5 years in a people management role
- Advanced proficiency with business intelligence tools with hands-on experience with AI tools for reporting (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar generative AI platforms)
- Strong Excel, data analysis, and data storytelling capabilities to translate complex insights into executive-ready narratives
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills with ability to present to C-suite leadership
- Experience developing and executing employee engagement and upskilling strategies
Nice to have:
- Knowledge and experience in working COO teams or technology domains.
- Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly-traded financial services corporation
- PMP, Agile, or other relevant project management certifications
- Strategic thinker with excellent interpersonal skills to work across technical functions and business units
