Support students with exceptional needs as an Educational Assistant at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. This term position offers hands-on experience working with diverse students in a nurturing environment. As part of the school team, the Educational Assistant will collaborate under the direction of the Principal to provide essential support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities.
Successful candidates will engage in various responsibilities, including program modification, academic support, and participation in pool programs. This role emphasizes flexibility and involves working closely with teachers to foster student well-being throughout daily activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with developmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Assist in implementing special programs and academic support
- Participate in pool activities and physiotherapy exercises
- Modify learning programs for individual student needs
- Conduct yard duties and assist with toileting as needed Requirements:
- Community college diploma in relevant fields (DSW/CYW)
- 1-2 years of experience with special needs children
- Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C
- Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
