As a member of the peopleCare Senior Management Team, the ExecutiveDirector/Administrator provides overall leadership for the long-term care home and isaccountable for resident experience, quality of care, people leadership, financialstewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Executive Director/Administratorleads the home with a strong focus on peopleCare’s Limitless vision: fostering vitality,encouraging bold ideas, achieving exceptional outcomes, and creating impact beyondourselves.

This role requires a visible, values-based leader who can inspire amultidisciplinary team, build trust with residents and families, strengthen communityrelationships, and ensure the home operates in alignment with peopleCare policies,legislative requirements, and strategic priorities.

Reports To: Director of Business Operations

RESPONSIBILITIES

Home Leadership and Strategic Operations

- Provide overall leadership and direction for the long-term care home, ensuringeffective day-to-day operations across all departments.
- Lead the implementation of peopleCare’s strategic plan at the home level, with afocus on leadership development, resident experience, expansion and growth,operational excellence, and societal impact.
- Develop and execute the home’s annual operational plan, including measurablegoals, priorities, performance indicators, and improvement initiatives.
- Use data, business metrics, resident/family feedback, compliance outcomes, andquality indicators to identify trends, evaluate performance, and drive continuousimprovement.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and solution focused leadership across the home.
- Ensure resources are aligned to resident needs, operational priorities, legislativerequirements, and organizational goals.

People Leadership and Culture

- Lead, coach and support a sizeable multidisciplinary team in a unionizedenvironment.
- Build, mentor and empower a strong home leadership team by providingcollaborative oversight, clear direction, coaching and support to departmentmanagers, enabling them to lead their portfolios with confidence, accountabilityand alignment to peopleCare’s values, standards and strategic priorities.
- Foster a strong and cohesive leadership team by supporting department managersin problem-solving, decision-making, communication, performance managementand continuous improvement within their areas of responsibility.
- Create a workplace culture where team members are engaged, accountable,supported, and empowered to do their best work.




- Ensure appropriate staffing plans and contingency plans are in place across alldepartments to support safe resident care and effective operations.
- Partner with People and Culture to support recruitment, retention, onboarding,attendance management, performance management, labour relations,investigations, accommodation, and leadership development.
- Set clear expectations for department leaders while providing the guidance,support and accountability required to achieve operational, quality, financial,legislative and people-related outcomes.
- Model professional communication, respectful leadership, ethical decisionmaking, and peopleCare’s values in all interactions.

Resident and Family Experience

- Champion a resident-centred approach that supports dignity, choice, safety,comfort, quality of life, and life-enriching experiences.
- Ensure residents receive care and services that meet their assessed needs andcomply with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Ontario Regulation 246/22, Ministry ofLong-Term Care requirements, and peopleCare standards.
- Build positive, responsive relationships with residents, families, substitutedecision-makers, Residents’ Council, Family Council, and community partners.
- Ensure resident and family concerns are addressed in a timely, respectful, andtransparent manner, with appropriate follow-up and documentation.
- Foster a home environment where residents, families and team members feelheard, respected, included, and connected.

Quality, Risk and Compliance

- Ensure the home operates in compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations,Ministry directives, public health guidance, peopleCare policies, collectiveagreements, and professional standards.
- Provide leadership in risk management, resident safety, emergency preparedness,infection prevention and control, privacy, documentation, and continuous qualityimprovement.
- Review and respond to resident and staff incident reports, compliance inspectionoutcomes, quality indicators, complaints, audits, and other risk-related trends.
- Ensure corrective actions from inspections, internal reviews, audits, incidents,complaints and quality improvement initiatives are implemented, monitored, andsustained.
- Support the effective functioning of quality, risk, safety, infection control,professional advisory, and interdisciplinary committees.
- Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of required records, includingresident health records, personnel records, volunteer records, incidentdocumentation, and operational records.

Financial and Business Management





- Provide accountable financial leadership for the home, including budgetdevelopment, operating performance, expenditure control, staffing costs, fundingutilization, and financial reporting.
- Monitor operating statements, key financial indicators and labour metrics tosupport responsible decision-making and budget management.
- Ensure the efficient use of human, physical and financial resources whilemaintaining high standards of care and service.
- Identify operational risks, pressures, efficiencies and opportunities, and elevate concerns or recommendations as appropriate.
- Support capital planning, procurement, environmental services, maintenance andother operational needs to ensure a safe, welcoming and well-functioning home.

Partnerships, Communication and Community Relationships

- Act as a liaison with Ministry officials, inspectors, public health, Ontario Health,community partners, service providers, qualified advisors, families and otherstakeholders in relation to the operation of the home.
- Represent peopleCare professionally and positively within the home, the broadercommunity, and the long-term care sector.
- Communicate information clearly and effectively through reports, presentations,correspondence, meetings, and operational updates.
- Build strong relationships with internal partners, including Operations, Clinical,People and Culture, Finance, Quality, Risk, IPAC, Communications and othersupport teams.
- Maintain awareness of current and emerging issues, trends, best practices andlegislative changes in long-term care and seniors’ services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three years in duration;or a post-secondary diploma in health or social services from a program that is aminimum of two years in duration.
- Has completed or is enrolled in a program in Long Term Care, Administration orManagement as per the Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act, Reg 246/22, s. 249 (3) (b)
- Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in health care, seniors’services, long-term care, social services, or another relevant setting is preferred.
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team in a unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario long-term care legislation, regulatory compliance,inspection processes, quality improvement, risk management, resident safety, andoperational standards.
- Demonstrated experience with budget management, operating statement analysis,staffing models, business planning, and performance metrics.
- Strong ability to analyze information, interpret business and clinical indicators,prepare reports, write professional correspondence, and present informationclearly to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education, leadership development,innovation, and continuous improvement.
