Family Solicitor-Chartered Legal Executive We are looking for a Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with 3 years’ PQE to join our highly regarded Family department. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive, friendly team that takes pride in helping clients through some of the most key and sensitive times in their lives.
The role sits within our Divorce and Finance Team, with the option to work from our Newport or Cardiff office and to benefit from hybrid working. It would suit someone with solid family law experience who is confident managing their own caseload within a welcoming, supportive and respected local firm.

You will join a well-established and experienced team, reporting directly to the department Directors. You will manage your own varied caseload of privately funded and legally aided family matters, with support from colleagues who work collaboratively and share knowledge.
Family Law Panel membership and/or Resolution accreditation would be an advantage, although we are equally interested in hearing from candidates who have the right experience, enthusiasm and commitment to client care.
What You Will Be Doing
- Managing your own varied caseload efficiently, with support from the wider Family team.
- Providing clear, practical advice and representation to clients across a range of family law matters.
- Preparing high-quality legal documents, correspondence, statements, pleadings and court documents.
- Attending client meetings and conferences with counsel where appropriate.
- Attending court hearings with counsel and supporting clients throughout the court process.
- Undertaking advocacy and representing clients at court hearings where appropriate.
- Managing matters proactively while meeting professional standards, client care expectations and financial objectives.
What We Are Looking For
- A Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with 3 years’ PQE.
- Good knowledge of public funding regulations and Legal Aid Agency procedures.
- A team-oriented approach, with the ability to communicate clearly and contribute positively to the team.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and manage work confidently with appropriate supervision.
- A self-motivated and commercially aware approach, with an interest in developing client relationships, generating new work and encouraging cross-referrals.
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a team.
- Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft 365 and case management systems.
