Cafeteria Cashier – Alpine Cafe
Status: Seasonal (Winter)
Reports to: Wedding and Catering Coordinator
Hourly wage: $18.75 per hour
Revised: September 12, 2026
Job Summary
As the first friendly face guests see when they step into the Alpine Cafeteria, you’re the one who keeps the good vibes rolling. Our cashiers bring energy, efficiency, and genuine hospitality to every interaction—making sure each guest leaves smiling and well-fed. You’ll handle transactions, answer questions, and help keep the front line running smoothly, all while soaking up the mountain atmosphere. If you love working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy the buzz of a busy resort day, this is the spot for you.
Role Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with a warm smile and process transactions quickly and accurately.
- Know the menu inside and out—including daily specials, pricing, and promotions—so you can help guests make great choices.
- Keep your workstation clean, stocked, and ready to roll with utensils, condiments, napkins, and trays.
- Work closely with kitchen and service staff to keep things running smoothly during the rush.
- Handle cash and card payments carefully and follow proper till procedures.
- Jump in to help with light food-service tasks, such as packaging take-out orders or topping up supplies.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards to keep the space safe and welcoming.
- Resort Conditions
Working at a winter resort means no two days are the same—and that’s part of the adventure. You’ll experience a variety of locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountain-top venues accessible only by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements, whether it’s bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or coastal rain. The role may involve navigating multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so appropriate footwear is essential indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey.
If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you.
Qualifications
- Previous cashier or guest-service experience is an asset, but a great attitude and willingness to learn go a long way.
- Friendly, approachable, and qualified with guests of all ages.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a busy, fast-paced setting.
- Comfortable operating a POS system and handling cash.
- Serving It Right or equivalent certification is required for alcohol service.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods.
- Comfortable lifting up to 25 lb., including supplies, waste bins, and trays.
- Ready to move efficiently during busy lunch rushes.
