Role Description

The Finance Business Partner is a full-time, on-site role based in Slave Lake, AB. This position supports college leadership and departmental managers by providing financial analysis, guidance, and insight to inform strategic and operational decisions. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports; analyzing variances; and identifying opportunities to optimize resource allocation. The role collaborates with academic and administrative units to develop business plans,



evaluate program performance, and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations. The Finance Business Partner also contributes to continuous improvement of financial processes, supports year-end reporting, and communicates complex financial information in a explicit, accessible manner to non-financial stakeholders.

Qualifications

- Strong finance and financial reporting skills, with experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and business planning, including supporting strategic and operational decision-making.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, perform variance analysis, and provide actionable insights.
- Relevant post-secondary education in finance, accounting, business, or a related field; a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is an asset.
- Experience working in public sector, education, or not-for-profit environments is beneficial.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships and explain financial concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
