Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to translate technical system specifications into working, tested applications. The successful candidate will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, implementation, support, troubleshooting, documentation, and maintenance of enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate technical system specifications into functional, tested applications.
- Develop detailed programming specifications.
- Write and/or generate application code.
- Compile and maintain data-driven programs.
- Conduct unit testing and quality validation.
- Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems arising during software operation.
- Provide technical assistance during implementations, conversions, and migrations.
- Collaborate with IT professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Design, develop, test, debug, deploy, document, and maintain applications.
- Participate in application monitoring, support, and troubleshooting activities.
- Design and implement REST API integrations following industry best practices.
- Assess and test technical Change Requests (CRQs) and update solutions as necessary.
- Participate in release promotions, implementations, and patching activities.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure software quality standards are maintained.
- Support developers, testers, and end users by resolving technical issues.
- Write technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials.
- Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and provide project updates and reports.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and support delivery outcomes.
- Contribute to risk and issue management associated with solution designs.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong programming and application development experience, ideally including Java.
- Experience with low-code development platforms such as Power Apps.
- Experience using Azure DevOps and GitHub.
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
- Experience with application design patterns, deployment, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies.
- Working knowledge of Oracle 19c and DB2 environments.
- Experience diagnosing and optimizing queries, indexes, and server performance.
- Understanding of backup and recovery processes.
- Experience with middleware and gateway technologies.
- Experience with application monitoring and support.
- Experience installing, configuring, tuning, and administering middleware software.
- Experience with REST API design and integrations.
- Experience with change management and release management processes.
- Knowledge of software security requirements and secure application development practices.

- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and accessibility best practices.
- Experience conducting user experience research and translating user stories into product enhancements.
- Experience promoting industry standards and best practices within development teams.
Work Arrangement
- 5 days onsite.
