Full-Time Residential Snow Removal Technician
Neighbourhood Heroes — Edmonton, AB
$19–$24/hour (Performance-Based Piece Rate) | Full-Time (Seasonal)
Neighbourhood Heroes is hiring Residential Snow Removal Technicians for the upcoming winter season. This is a hands-on, high-energy outdoor role for individuals who want to stay active, work in a team environment, and take pride in keeping Edmonton properties safe and accessible all winter long.
Technicians work in energetic two-person crews out of our company work trucks. You will operate commercial snowblowers, shovel walkways, and apply ice melt to residential properties. Because snow is unpredictable, we offer a guaranteed weekly retainer so you still get paid even when the weather is dry.
If you enjoy working outdoors, staying fit, and tackling the winter weather head-on with a teammate, this is an excellent opportunity.
⸻
CompensationWe use a piece-rate pay structure designed to reward efficiency, with built-in hourly guarantees and caps:
- $6.50 per house completed (split or structured based on crew setup).
- $19/hour minimum wage guarantee: If your piece-rate total falls below $19/hr for the time worked, we bump you up to ensure you always make at least $19/hr.
- $24/hour maximum wage cap: Your hourly equivalent earnings are capped at $24/hr.
- $200 Weekly Retainer: If there is absolutely no snow and zero work is done over a 7-day period, you still receive a $200 retainer for being on the roster. (If work is performed, you are instead paid your standard wages for that week).
Pay Examples:
- Day 1 (Heavy Snow): 35 houses cleared in 10 hours = $227.50 total ($22.75/hour).
- Day 2 (Light Snow/Rapid Route): 25 houses cleared in 6 hours = $162.50 ($27.08/hr). Because of the $24/hr cap, your pay for the day is adjusted to $144.00.
Schedule
- Seasonal Contract: November 1st – April 30th
- Hours: Weather-dependent. Shifts are triggered by snowfall events.
- Must be prepared for early morning starts to ensure driveways are cleared for clients.
