Under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, the Skilled Labourer performs various manual duties in the maintenance of the water treatment plant.

As The Skilled

Labourer, You Will Operate, clean and maintain vehicles such as pick-up trucks or vans in accordance with departmental policies.



Maintain yard and vehicle inventories to ensure their continuous availability. Practice established safety rules and regulations for the protection of self, fellow employees, the public and equipment operated.

Grade 12, or equivalent in training and experience. Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of tools and/or machinery to perform general maintenance/repair work. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.

Working knowledge of Department facilities operation and structure. Working knowledge of a variety of material and products utilized by the Department. Applicants submitting foreign credentials require an official academic assessment report issued by a recognized Canadian assessment service at application.

The successful candidate must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful candidate possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence. repetitive movement, crouching, kneeling, standing, climbing stairs, and continuous walking working outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions.

Must successfully pass a respirator fit test (requires employee to be clean shaven at work) and confined entry training.

Position Reports To: Facilities Maintenance Supervisor The successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical assessment at the Occupational Health Branch. The successful applicant may be required to work in confined areas, on roofs, in excavations, at varied heights and hazardous locations where wearing of respirator masks/safety glasses, safety equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus are necessary. The successful applicant will be required to complete job specific training required for this position as directed.
