Torq’d Up Equipment Repair Inc. is a growing heavy equipment maintenance and repair company providing skilled mechanical services to mining, drilling, quarrying, construction, and heavy industrial operations.

We support our clients by supplying experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians who can work independently in demanding field environments. Our Ontario operations include both long-term and project-based assignments, and the exact work workplace can vary depending on the client and contract.

Assignments may include working from a fully equipped mobile service truck, being assigned to a mine or quarry maintenance operation, working alongside an existing maintenance team, or providing mechanical labour without a dedicated service truck.

We are looking for dependable, experienced technicians who are comfortable adapting to different equipment, sites, schedules, and working environments.

Position Overview

As a Heavy Equipment Technician with Torq’d Up, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment at customer locations throughout Ontario.

Depending on the assignment, you may:

- Operate independently from a mobile service truck;
- Work directly within a mine, quarry, construction site, or industrial facility;
- Join an existing client maintenance team;
- Provide field maintenance and breakdown support;
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance;
- Support drilling and blasting operations;
- Work on a rotational schedule at a remote site; or
- Work a more conventional local or project-based schedule.

The position requires strong mechanical knowledge, good judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work safely with limited supervision.

Types of Equipment

Our technicians may work on a wide variety of heavy equipment depending on the assignment and customer.

Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

- Surface drilling equipment;
- Blast hole drills;
- Top hammer and DTH drilling equipment;
- Epiroc drilling equipment;
- Excavators;
- Wheel loaders;
- Dozers;
- Haul trucks;
- Articulated dump trucks;
- Rock trucks;
- Graders;
- Skid steers and compact equipment;
- Compressors;
- Generators;
- Mining support equipment;
- Construction equipment;
- Quarry equipment;
- Diesel engines;
- Hydraulic systems;
- Pneumatic systems;
- Electrical and electronic systems;
- HVAC systems; and
- Other mobile heavy equipment.

Experience specifically with drilling equipment is highly valued but is not required for every Torq’d Up assignment.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the customer and assignment but may include:

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic problems;
- Troubleshoot equipment failures efficiently and systematically;
- Use diagnostic software, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation;
- Identify the root cause of failures rather than simply replacing components;
- Recommend appropriate repairs and corrective actions;
- Communicate equipment condition and repair requirements clearly.

Repairs & Maintenance
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance;
- Complete equipment inspections;
- Perform breakdown and emergency repairs;
- Repair and replace hydraulic components;
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic leaks and system failures;
- Repair electrical systems, wiring, sensors, switches, and related components;
- Perform diesel engine diagnostics and repairs;
- Repair drivetrain, steering, suspension, braking, cooling, and lubrication systems;
- Replace and repair pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, valves, bearings, and other components;
- Perform component removal and installation;
- Complete equipment adjustments and calibrations where required;
- Perform HVAC troubleshooting and repairs when qualified;
- Assist with major repairs and rebuilds when required;
- Test equipment following repairs to confirm proper operation.

Field Service For assignments involving a mobile service truck:
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional service truck;
- Travel between customer equipment and work locations;
- Carry and maintain appropriate tooling and commonly required supplies;
- Perform repairs in field conditions;
- Coordinate parts, tools, and repair requirements;
- Manage work independently while maintaining communication with Torq’d Up and the customer;
- Complete service documentation and reports accurately.

A dedicated service truck is not guaranteed for every assignment. Some positions may involve working directly from a client shop, maintenance facility, or jobsite using client or Torq’d Up resources.



Mining & Quarry Environment

Many of our Ontario assignments are within mining, drilling, blasting, and quarry operations.

Technicians must be comfortable working:

- Outdoors in changing weather conditions;
- Around active heavy equipment;
- In dusty, muddy, wet, cold, or hot environments;
- Around drilling and blasting operations;
- In remote locations;
- On active mine and quarry sites;
- During day or night shifts;
- For extended shifts where permitted;
- Independently or as part of a maintenance team.

All employees are expected to follow Torq’d Up policies as well as all site-specific health and safety requirements. Safety takes priority over production and repair speed.

Schedule & Rotation

Torq’d Up supports multiple customers and projects, so schedules can vary by assignment.

A common schedule for our Ontario operations is:

14 days on / 14 days off (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off)

Rotational assignments may include

- 12-hour shifts;
- Day shifts;
- Night shifts;
- Alternating day and night rotations;
- Travel days before and/or after the rotation.

Other assignments may operate under different schedules, including:
- 7/7 rotations;
- Monday to Friday;
- Project-specific schedules;
- Local daily schedules;
- Other client-specific rotations.

Applicants should clearly communicate their availability and preferred schedule. Torq’d Up will attempt to match employees with assignments that fit their experience and availability when possible. Specific schedules, shift times, rotation dates, and travel arrangements will be confirmed for each assignment.

Travel & Accommodations

Depending on the assignment, Torq’d Up employees may travel from their home province to worksites in Ontario.

Travel arrangements vary by project and may include air travel, company transportation, rental vehicles, or other arrangements.

For rotational and remote assignments, accommodations and meals may be provided or arranged depending on the client and contract.

Employees may be required to:

- Travel by air to and from the work region;
- Travel by company vehicle to the jobsite;
- Stay in hotels, camps, lodges, or other accommodations;
- Share transportation with other Torq’d Up employees;
- Travel outside regular working hours when required by the rotation.

Exact travel, accommodation, and meal arrangements will be communicated before assignment.

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians who can contribute immediately in a field or industrial environment.

Preferred qualifications include

- Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification;
- Ontario 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification or equivalent interprovincial qualification;
- Journeyperson status in another Canadian province;
- Relevant heavy equipment mechanical experience;
- Strong diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and troubleshooting knowledge;
- Previous mining, quarry, construction, drilling, or field-service experience;
- Valid driver's licence;
- Good driving record;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work.

Candidates with substantial relevant experience who do not meet every qualification may still be considered depending on the assignment. Mining Certifications & Site Requirements

Depending on the assignment, employees may be required to obtain or maintain certifications and training such as:

- Ontario Surface Miner Common Core or applicable modules;
- WHMIS;
- Working at Heights;
- First Aid/CPR;
- Lockout/Tagout training;
- Site-specific orientations;
- Client-specific safety training;
- NORCAT training or orientation;
- Other mining or industrial certifications.

Torq’d Up will advise candidates of the specific requirements for their assignment. Some clients may also require:
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing;
- Site-access medical requirements;
- Driver's abstract;
- Criminal background check;
- Fit-for-duty assessment; or
- Additional customer-specific screening.

Employees are expected to accurately document their work.

Depending on the assignment, this may include:

- Daily work reports;
- Equipment numbers;
- Hours worked;
- Description of work performed;
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic findings;
- Parts used;
- Outstanding repairs;
- Equipment status;
- Safety documentation;
- Pre-job hazard assessments;
- Mileage records;
- Travel documentation;
- Receipts and expenses.

Torq’d Up uses its internal application and other systems to manage schedules, documentation, receipts, travel information, and employee records. Accurate reporting is an important part of the position because our customers rely on these records for maintenance history, operational planning, and billing.

Tools & Equipment

Tool requirements depend on the assignment.

Employees may be provided access to:

- Service trucks;
- Specialized tooling;
- Diagnostic equipment;
- PPE;
- Customer shop facilities;
- Client-provided tools and equipment.

Technicians may be expected to provide certain personal hand tools depending on the position. Exact requirements will be discussed before the assignment begins. Torq’d Up provides required company PPE according to the position and work environment.

Compensation

Compensation is based on

- Experience;
- Qualifications;
- Certifications;
- Type of assignment;
- Schedule;
- Responsibilities;
- Field-service requirements; and
- Customer/project requirements.

Overtime, travel compensation, allowances, and other assignment-specific compensation will be explained before accepting a position or assignment. Torq’d Up employees are paid weekly.
