Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract, On-Site

Collective Waste
Solutions focuses on understanding each client’s specific requirements to tailor services that best meet their operational needs. Team members join a company committed to service excellence and sustainable waste practices.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced HR Generalist to step into a full-scope HR Advisor role for a 14-month maternity leave coverage. You'll be the go-to person for employee relations, performance management support, benefits and compensation, and workplace policy across our organization — partnering directly with people managers to keep things running smoothly and compliantly. If you're the kind of HR professional who can walk into an established function, build trust fast, and hit the ground running, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, helping resolve concerns fairly and confidentially while fostering a positive workplace.
- Support managers through the performance review cycle and coach them on handling performance challenges with confidence and consistency.
- Oversee employee benefits administration and provide guidance on compensation matters,
including offer recommendations and internal equity.
- Advise people managers on employment law essentials, including hiring, termination, and contract compliance under Alberta employment standards.
- Draft and maintain employment contracts, offer letters, and company policies to reflect current legislation and best practices.
- Analyze HR metrics and trends, such as turnover, tenure, and case volume, and present findings that inform business decisions.
What You Bring
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including employee relations and advantages/compensation exposure.
- Solid working knowledge of Alberta employment standards, human rights, and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Strong proficiency in HRIS/payroll systems and Excel for reporting and analysis.
- The ability to ramp up quickly and work independently, given the fixed length of this assignment.
Why Join Us
You’ll join an established HR team and take ownership of a meaningful, high-impact mandate from day one – not a training-wheels assignment. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional who thrives on variety, wants broad exposure across the full HR function, and is looking for a defined, structured contract with real scope and autonomy.
Compensation and Details
Salary: Competitive annual salary, commensurate with experience (paid on our standard bi-weekly payroll cycle).
Term: 14-month fixed-term contract covering a maternity leave, with a planned transition and handover period before the leave begins.
Location: Based at our Calgary Corporate office, with occasional travel to operational sites as needed.
